The DDD Scotland developer conference is accepting proposals for talks. It’s a community-organised conference, and runs intermittently – the last one was in 2016 (I spoke there in 2016). Disclaimer before I make the rest of this pitch : I’m not affiliated with the conference in any way, nor an organiser, just a speaker from the 2016 edition.
I can recommend it as a first conference talk – it’s a proper-but-not-massively-pressured conference event, with quite an informal feel about it. I think you could maybe see it as a stepping stone from speaking at meetups to speaking at bigger conferences, if that was a direction you wanted to take.
It’d be great to see more women speakers there. They use a community voting system – you submit a proposal, and there’s a month or so of voting for submissions, and the program is decided on votes. Proposals are open to December 7th. They have a solid code of conduct https://dddscotland.org/Home/CodeOfConduct, which is a positive.
I’m no expert in conference speaking, but I’ve done a few, and I’m happy to offer any kind of support, input, or review needed.
